titleSummer and Quarter Break Support

Continuing Graduate Students:

A graduate student may be eligible for summer quarter financial support if they met the Basic Qualifications for Financial Support Eligibility in the preceding spring quarter.

  • Students who were on a LOA in the preceding spring quarter may be eligible for summer financial support if they show intent to meet the Basic Qualifications for Financial Support Eligibility in the upcoming fall quarter.

Upon Graduation:

A US Citizen or Permanent Resident who receives a terminal degree, and is eligible for support (ie. either enrolled full-time during the Spring quarter, or has an approved financial support exception on file with the Division of Graduate Education and Postdoctoral Affairs), can be supported through the quarter-break after graduation provided the student continues to be actively engaged in graduate student research. The summer is considered to be the quarter-break after spring quarter.

An international student (F-1 or J-1 visa) can only be employed through the program end date as outlined on their visa documentation. Contact the International Center for additional information.
