Walk-On Topics

Everyone

  • Kelli: Having one EDI member per hiring committee

    • Lets re-introduce it back to the different teams

  • Where can we give this reminder?

    • HV: It would be good to have it in writing. Will ask Vanessa if there is a supervisor/manager email group. Heather Vinograd

  • HV: How can we incorporate more EDI into the hiring/recruitment process?

    • There is a lack of scoring criteria, we should propose that there is a scoring criteria for the EDI question

    • Kelli: Had a recruitment for her team and this was criteria #1:

      • Ability to interface effectively with a diverse group of people, exercising initiative, diplomacy, and maintaining confidentiality.

    • HV: How can IPPS score the EDI question

      • How has your background and experience prepared you to be effective in an environment that holds diversity as core to our mission and values?

      • Kelli: if the answers align with UCSD’s Principles of Community

      • HV mostly sees very general and short responses in this question

      • Kelli: something that she does is introduce IPPS and our core values and how important EDI is to our organization and that way the interviewee is not blind sighted by the questions

      • Kacy: asking ChatGBT on strong, medium, weak EDI related responses

      • Kelli: Would it be a privacy issue if we share real answers?

        • Anonymous?

        • This would have to potentially go through HR

      • Kacy: start a Google Doc and the EDI Committee can create those responses

      • Kacy & Zaira are on a weekly call with Ileanna (HR) and they can potentially ask

      • Kelli: Leadership Forum exercise:

        • Reintroduce the initiative

        • Ask leadership how they would rate the answers

Lead Fellow Report

Kacy

  • Form for anyone in the CFO portfolio to fill in a form if they want to request something from the Lead Fellows

  • Kacy gave demo on form

    • Choose the VCO-Department

    • Topic you want consultation on

    • Urgency level

  • Then the lead fellows will receive the email and then they will review the request

    • They can deny or approve the request

  • Where will this form be housed when it goes live?

    • Not sure yet because there are different vcfo departments

  • For future: creating guidance on supervisors/managers making EDI part of their performance appraisals a priority and incorporating activities/events/exercises
