Best Practices When Downloading Applicant Files from Slate for Rubric Training Purposes

For practice purposes, it can be a helpful exercise for admission committees to train with their rubric prior to the start of current round application review. However, it is extremely important to remove all personal information from the applications your department chooses to use to assist in your training practices with your admissions committees. Should you download applications for training purposes, ensure all personal information that would allow the applicant to be identified, is redacted prior to distributing the practice files. Examples of personal identifiers include but are not limited to: 

• Name
• Date of Birth 
• Citizenship 
• SSN
• Address 
• Email Address
• Phone Number 
• Race
• Passport Number

*Do not distribute application files prior to redacting all personal identifiers from the application files selected. This is immensely important and failure to do so could lead to privacy violations.
