Departments may nominate up to four (4) students; students may not self nominate, all nominations require departmental nomination. Nomination materials are listed below: - Letter from the department chair, faculty advisor, or graduate coordinator containing:
- an evaluation of the applicant's graduate performance to date and potential for future contributions to the research or artistic activity in the student's discipline, in particular, note the global nature of the research
- other departmental or external financial support the student is receiving and the student's financial need, if any
- contributions the student has made, if any, to building an awareness of and appreciation for global issues and global solutions
- Applicant's personal statement and international research plan containing:
- Two-page maximum (12-point font, Times New Roman or comparable, double spaced)
- In the statement, the nominee should describe their qualifications for the award (research interests, career plans, financial need expound on minimum and maximum dollar amount that would be helpful to your research, past and proposed contributions to building an awareness of and appreciation for global issues and global solutions, etc.) as well as the international research plan they propose for spending the requested funds.
- Budget proposal
- One-page document or spreadsheet outlining international research plan costs and justification for why they are requesting the specific amount, ranging from $1,000 to $5,000.
- Student's curriculum vitae with current email and cell phone number
- Student's current UC San Diego transcript (unofficial is fine)
