Accessing Nominee Materials in Slate

Please note, you may already have accessed Slate for your department admissions processes, so this presented view may be slightly different than what you are used to seeing.

Step 1. Navigate to the Slate Homepage: connect.grad.ucsd.edu/manage/

Slate Homepage

Step 2. These materials are visible through the Slate Fellowship Workflow. On the home screen, click on the third icon from the left. This is called the Reader.

Step 3. After clicking the Reader icon, please find and select the Fellowships Workflow bin.

Step 4. Your screen should now look like the screenshot below. Please select “Browse” from the left-hand side of the screen; it is the second menu item.

Step 5. In the Fellowship Committee Review column, select the Fellowship Nominations bin.

Step 6. Please only review the students that are listed for the applicable fellowship under the Department Nominations column and are on the applicable Review Spreadsheet/Rubric emailed to you from the FSU Fellowship Advisor. In order to review a student’s materials please select the circled rectangular icon on the right-hand side. At this time, the review process is performed outside of Slate; please utilize Slate to review the applicant material but use the Review Spreadsheet/Rubric to perform your review/list your scores.

Example: The Katzin Prize (image below) - you should receive an email from the FSU Fellowship Advisor with a Katzin Prize Rubric that has a tab for each of the 2 rounds. If there are students listed as nominees for Katzin that are not on your Review Form during the first round, it is because the departments did not submit by the first deadline; these students should be on the Review Form for round 2. To review the application, select the pages icon on the far right next to the applicable applicant.

Step 7. Please pay close attention to the fellowship documents for each student. Each department should have a nominee letter for the applicable fellowship (e.g. Katzin Prize) and letter from the department describing the financial package offered to the student. You are welcome to scroll through the tabs on the left-hand side of the screen (personal information, custom question, academic history, etc.) to aid in your review of the nominee. In order to exit the reader, click on the white bolded Slate type on the top left-hand corner.

Step 8. Please utilize the applicable Review Spreadsheet/Rubric to score the applicants. Please do not award any of these nominees. GEPA will take care of awarding the nominees in the system after receiving your scores.
