    • Outreach and Recruitment

      • Diversify your graduate applicant pool. Partner with to do outreach and recruitment!

      • Partner with to provide Research Opportunities for prospective undergraduate students.

        • Summer residential research experience and graduate school preparation activities for undergraduates at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), California State Universities (CSUs), University of California (UCs), and Minority Serving Institutions (MSIs). Primarily targets students' outside of UC San Diego. Your department may fund undergraduate students' participation in STARS (both UC San Diego and non-UC San Diego)

        • Your department or faculty may be interested in writing grants to provide research experiences for undergraduate students. Your faculty may leverage the program to provide administrative support, so that your faculty can focus on the research component of a summer research program. Contact Angeline Yang avyang@ucsd.edu for more information or to get a Letter of Support. All STARS programming, and/or related costs must be written into grant proposals.

      • Graduate school prep and mentorship for UC San Diego Undergraduates in the fall they plan to apply to graduate school (all majors)

      • Graduate school prep and mentorship for UC San Diego Undergraduates in their junior year and in STEM majors

      • Grad school prep conference for students (UC San Diego and non-UC San Diego) doing summer research at UC San Diego campus. Grad Coords can outreach to and connect with students at this in-person event.

    • Graduate Student Retention

      • Create inclusive communities, sense of belonging, and positive graduate student communities. Partner with to develop these spaces.

        • Work with the OAR² Graduate Intern Program to develop communities and programming for your underrepresented students and women in STEM.

        • Summer transition program for PhD and MFA students. Each grad program can nominate one student cost share to support a student.
