General
How do I know if I am a student employee/have an academic appointment?
You can confirm your status by checking your appointment details in UCPath or by contacting your graduate coordinator or department administrator. You can also review the begin and end dates of current academic employment by checking the information in the IA System.
Should I sign up for Direct Deposit to ensure I receive my payment/funds faster?
Yes. To ensure timely payment through FSPT, please make sure your name, address, Social Security Number, and direct deposit information are up to date in both TritonLink and UCPath.
When will I get paid?
Stipends are paid in arrears and are typically issued on or near the first of each month. Please refer to the stipend disbursement deadlines for specific dates.
How much will my stipend be?
Stipend amounts vary by department and appointment. Please contact the graduate coordinator in your home department for details about your specific stipend.
Tax Information
I have a tax question. Who do I contact?
International students must have their Glacier process fully completed in order to receive payment. For Glacier-related questions, you may submit a ticket in ServiceNow (linked on the Glacier Process page). For tax questions specific to your personal situation, please consult a certified public accountant (CPA).
Is my fellowship stipend is considered taxable income and/or does it count as earned income for a Roth IRA?
For tax questions specific to your personal situation, please consult a certified public accountant (CPA).
International Students & Glacier
Is the international student stipend disbursement changing?
The way stipends are paid is not changing. However, the system used to enter stipend payments is changing to FSPT.
My Glacier paperwork is complete and my new vendor registration has been approved on PaymentWorks registration is approved, but I haven’t received my stipend. What should I do?
Stipend payments cannot be issued until the entire Glacier process is fully complete. If you’re unsure whether action is still required, search your email for messages from glacier-disb@ucsd.edu and review any pending requests or instructions. For more Glacier-related questions, you may submit a ticket in Services & Support.
