titleNomination & Materials

Nomination Process

  • If you would like to nominate a student please submit this nomination form by Monday, April 29, 2024, and include an attachment of all documents listed below.
  • Students may not self-nominate and faculty members must work with their department Graduate Coordinator to formally nominate their students.
  • Each department may nominate two (2) students. In the event that we get more than 2 nominations from campus departments we will return the nominations to the department to submit only the top two (2) students. The Graduate Fellowship Review Committee will decide which four (4) students will become the final nominees to represent UC San Diego.

  • If your student is selected for nomination, your department will need to create a Kuali record. More information about the record requirements will be provided at that time.

Student Essay #2 Response:

Describe an example of your leadership experience in which you have positively influenced others, helped resolve disputes or contributed to group efforts over time.

  • A leadership role can mean more than just a title. It can mean being a mentor to others, acting as the person in charge of a specific task, or taking the lead role in organizing an event or project. Think about what you have accomplished and what you learned from the experience. What were your responsibilities? Did you lead a team? How did your experience change your perspective on leading others? Did you help to resolve an important dispute at your school, church, in your community or an organization? And your leadership role doesn’t necessarily have to be limited to school activities. For example, do you help out or take care of your family?
