Training Request Procedure

  • Process for submitting training/travel request is the same as last year:

    1. Send request to Kal

    2. Include: what it is, where it's taking place, duration and cost, anything that speaks to the rubric below

    3. Kal routes to SMT

    4. Rubric for review by SMT:

      1. Is the person passionate about the topic or if the training course is part of a larger learning/development plan?

      2. Is this a need for the institution or are we mitigating risk?

      3. How creative is the approach in terms of effectiveness and cost?

    5. Once SMT approves, it gets added to a list that the admin team will use to setup and approve purchases/travel.

    6. Proceed

  • A budget for the entire department will be developed and managed in this way.

  • The ad-hoc process DOES NOT apply to strategic or group or project specific training. Those still need to be handled through the budget process. These needs to be included in the annual budget cycle. Please discuss with Kal.

  • If you don't understand this or have questions or have rumors you want to dispel, PLEASE TALK TO KAL.
