Comment: Import Macro Repair

Components are useful to group and tag things in JIRA. Think of these as "tags". Components are project specific, so the options will only show up in the project they are created in (labels on the other hand are universal).

Step-by-step guide

There are two ways to create components:

  1. Creating components from the components sidebar
    1. On the navigation bar click Projects
    2. On the left hand sidebar click Components
    3. Enter a component name (on the left) and a default assignee (on the right)
    4. Click Add
  2. Creating components on the fly (note: At least 1 component must exist for this option to activate and you must be a project administrator of the specific project. If no components exist it will just say "None" and you must use option 1)
    1. On the navigation bar click Create
    2. Make sure your project is selected
    3. Enter a component name
    4. Select "Create a new one" from the dropdown options or press Enter
