Known Issues
Issues with access are resolved
Macros not displaying
- Unsupported, legacy macros won't display when you view a page:
- However, the content will appear when you edit that page. It just needs to be moved or converted to a supported macro. Submit a support request if you need assistance.
Calendars
- Confluence Team Calendars are no longer supported with our licensing tier. We recommend using an Outlook, Google, Teams, or Sharepoint calendar instead. If your page is in the new editing experience, you can insert it using the iframe macro. If not, just link to it.
Jira connectors
- If you've placed a Jira macro on your page, the corresponding links from Jira back to Confluence is still pointing to collab.ucsd.edu. This is being worked on and will soon be updated to point to ucsdcollab.atlassian.net.
Cloud has 2 different editors
Confluence Cloud has a new editing experience. Because macros work differently in the new editing experience, users are presented with an option to convert the page to the new editing experience when you edit the page. Once you convert the page, most legacy macros will no longer work. You'll want to update the macros before converting the page. Please check out the list of supported macros before converting the page. There are some significant issues with upgrading to the new experience. We are working with Atlassian on ways to make this easier:
- Some macros don't convert nicely and content has to be copied and pasted.
- Tables work differently-if a table needs to be copied and pasted into a new macro, each individual table cell also needs to be copied and pasted.
Updating Macros
- To change an old macro to a newer, supported one, do the following in the editor:
- Click on the name of the Macro you want to change
- Click "Edit"
- In the popup window, click "Select macro" in the bottom left corner
- Search for the new Macro you want you want to change, and select it
- Press "Insert" in the bottom right corner
- Note: this only works with UI Tab, when you try this with UI Tabs, it wipes out the content. Instead, you need to insert the new macro, copy and paste the content inside, and delete the old macro. We're working on a possible script to update these for you.
Note: Some of the macros have the same name! For example, there is a legacy macro called "UI Tab" and a new macro called "UI Tab":
New pages will automatically be created in the new editor so you can familiarize yourself with the editing experience. We don't recommend upgrading your pages to the new editor until you review all the macros first. Please reach out to the collab team for assistance.
Note: In the new editor, you can type a slash and the name of the macro as a shortcut, e.g., /expand.
Macros
- Macros that are part of the Refined toolkit need to be updated to the new macros before you convert to the new editing experience. These include:
- rw-users-space
- ui-expand: The new editor has a built-in expand macro.
- ui-steps: Replace with UI Steps/UI Step.
- ui-tabs: Replace with UI Tabs/UI Tab
- ui-text-box: Replace with UI Text Box
- Other:
- column: replace with built-in editor layout options
- html: You cannot embed any HTML code in the cloud editor. Options:
- Replace HTML code with regular, links, images, etc.
- You can use the iframe macro if you convert to the new editing experience (see above).
- lref-gdrive-files-list: Use smart links instead
- sp-tabs: The project team is working on replacing sp-tabs with the current editor macro ui-tabs so the content will migrate properly.
- livesearch: The livesearch macro can no longer be added into the sidebar due to the new confluence cloud theme.
Personal Spaces
- A few personal spaces appear to have been created anew, with old personal spaces existing but not linked to profiles.
- How to fix this: Simply delete your "new" personal space and your old one will take its place. Be very careful to delete the correct space without any content in it.
