6. Alert: Target dates set beyond the due date

The “Due date” field is available in the JIRA Portfolio “New Experience”. Atlassian releases new features and fixes every month. You may now see the alert icon beside epics or tasks and when you click on it the message reads “Target dates set beyond the due date” and the Gantt bar turns yellow. See screen shot below. One or both of the target dates for this issue are set after the due date.
To fix this you could make adjustments (ie. assignee or weekly hours) to get the task done sooner, change the due date, or manually set the target date to on or before the due date. This will correct your dates and Gantt bar for the epic and task and the alert will go away.
So, if you had Portfolio set target dates from calculated (see previous Tip Of The Week), this alert predicts that the task will not get done by the current due date – it predicts V3.
