JIRA allows us to create boards to view the data within a project. Boards are just a visual representation of work. There are two main types of boards in JIRA. A scrum board and a kanban board. It provides a few built in things such as backlog, an active sprint section, reports, versions/releases/milestones, components, etc. You can create multiple boards that look/share the same data.

Step-by-step guide

Click on Projects

  1. Select your project
  2. On the left hand sidebar click on the board icon
  3. Select "create a new board"
  4. Select "Create a scrum board" and use "existing project"
  5. Put a descriptive name on the board and then it creates it.

Once you create a board you can't "switch" to the other type of board (ie start with scrum board and switch to kanban board). If you need to, you need to create a new board.
