titleExperience-Based Salary

Effective Fall 2023, the Experience Based Salary Wage Schedule for Teaching Assistants and Associate Instructors is being implemented per the guidelines of the new ASE/GSR contracts. While Non-Student titles are not explicitly mentioned in regards to this policy in the new contract, the determination by Labor Relations & GEPA is that NSTs are covered by this contract, and in turn will be subject to the Experience Based Salary Wage Schedule.

Placement on the Salary Scale

Employment in the Teaching Assistant (002310) and employment in the Non-Student Tutor serving in the role of Teaching Assistant (002510) titles equivalent to 25% for the duration of the quarter will count towards “University teaching experience.” We anticipate a quarter count report to be available for fall hiring.

Example: Tommy Triton was employed as a 25% TA (002310) for 3 quarters during their time as a graduate student.  In SP23, Tommy graduated, and for the 2023/24 AY the College Writing program wants to hire Tommy as a NST.  Tommy's TA experience under job code 002310 counts towards their NST university teaching experience.  For the 2023/24 AY, the College Writing Program will need to hire Tommy at salary point 2.

Please see the below table for guidance on the salary points:
