AH User Acceptance Testing (UAT)

User Acceptance Testing (UAT)

UAT is a time for report developers to complete their own testing scenarios against any enhancements being release.  During UAT field names, folder names and aggregations may change quickly and break reports (AH Changes That Break Report or Column Group Connections).

Reports using data in UAT should not be shared with customers.

How to perform User Acceptance Testing (UAT)

Cognos Report Developers

In Cognos DEV open your report and replace the current package with the package of the same name from the Team Content > %% Activity Hub > %% Analytics Packages UAT folder.  Run the report and select Hana QA.  Do not select Hana Prod as the report will fail.  Using the new package from the %%  Analytics Packages UAT folder will allow you to see the below enhancement.  EAH data is the same in Hana prod and Hana QA.

Tableau Report Developers

Sign into Tableau on your Tableau desktop tool and open your report.  Add a new data source with the same name and -QA at the end of the title.  Replace the original data source with the –QA data source.  Using the –QA data source will allow you to see the enhancements.  Once the enhancement are migrated to Production you will need to repoint your report at the regular data source and publish to Tableau server.

All Report Developers

BIA suggest starting with the following scenarios:

  • Do any of the enhancements break your reports?
  • Do any of the enhancements change the values in your reports?
  • Is the enhancement what you expected?
  • Does the name of field make sense to you?

What to do with issues found during UAT

Any issues found during UAT should be sent to busintel@ucsd.edu with the date of when UAT is due, along with the following information:

  • What browser are you using?
  • What environment are you using?  Cognos DEV, QA or PROD?  Tableau QA or Prod?
  • What Tableau data source / Cognos package are you using?
  • What results do you see in the original data source?

Enhancements in UAT will have a BIA-UAT-InProgress label* along with a label for the date the enhancement was released to UAT:
