The transition from Step 3 to 4 is finicky in Create a Manual Journal Entry. Sometimes it works and sometimes it does not. I’m not certain how to correct it as it sometimes works.

Clicking on Task list Icon and then selecting from drop down. The transition is not always consistent.

5

What would be the recommended method when there are optional items to do?

In Create a Manual Journal Entry, step 9, I tried to create many steps in one and am playing with beacons to alert of other options. Multiple attachments can be added, but are not required. Could I get guidance on how to set this?

@Shruti Bhakta

Next button and guidance in text and changing target to advance

6

Is it recommended to put each field that needs to be entered as a separate step? Or grouped?

In Create a Manual Journal Entry, steps 13-15 needs to be done for a minimum of 1 debit line and 1 credit line, possibly more. What should be used for this and the option to enter more than 2 rows?

7

How many FinOps guides do you have flagged?

KBAs or ?

@Bradley, Heather

Are you referring to KBA’s for conversion? If so, 21.

8

What is on your list and how are you prioritizing your Guides?

@Bradley, Heather

The guides your team has flagged for phase one need to be drafted no later than mid-january. Your Stream Leads should be helping to prioritize which guides go first. I can provide services and support reports to help pinpoint support requests but agents have the insight to what clients are struggling with the most.

9

How can we improve the user experience? How do we make information easier to find?

@Bradley, Heather

Our goal is to have one source of information that can be found through various sources. In OGL, we can explore ways to orgainze our guides to make it as easy as possible to find and optimize the use of the guides. We’ll monitor this closely and get user feedback.

10

How do we create a better maintenance system?

@Bradley, Heather

Our first step is to elimiante redundancy. We aim to have one source of information. In additioan to this, we’ll use AI and other in app functionality to help us identify and update content going forward.

11

There are some things I need to build content on that my profile doesn’t have access to (e.g. SmartTips on approving requisitions, but I have no requisitions to approve that I can look at). I can pull up stuff in Dev5 but am not 100% sure how to/if we can do that

See question.

@Ashlyn Bernal

We are workign in Dev4. If you need elevated or specific roles in Dev4, we can request that for you.

12

WalkMe had launcher buttons we could put on different Oracle pages that said things such as “Click here for an orientation” or “Learn how to ___”. I’m noticing that OGL doesn’t have that kind of functionality, and the only options are to automatically launch the walkthroughs for X number of times or to direct people to use the menu and find the walkthrough themselves. We want to avoid the former since it could be cumbersome for more experienced users, and we don’t think the latter would be as effective in drawing people’s attention. I’m trying to think of a way to create an experience similar to what we had in WalkMe, but I’m coming up blank. In WalkMe, you could customize the appearance of a button, so I would totally do that to create a faux launcher out of a SmartTip, but I don’t think you can change its appearance. My only other idea outside of that is to create a SmartTip which links to a guide (if I can do that), but I imagine that SmartTip will blend in with all the others on the page that are actually defining terms.

I’m wondering if you have any ideas on this, or this can be a topic at consultation.

@Ashlyn Bernal

I do agree that SmartTips seem to be the best solution but I will send this question forward to the OGL team for feedback.

13

Is there a setting where the user can move the guidance box displayed?

I’ve used tip offset to move the placement of my box, but depending on the size of my screen the box will cover some text that I don’t want it to cover, so I would like the user to be able to move the box if they want

How to Prevent a Tooltip from Hiding a Drop Down Menu

We often receive a request that sounds something like this:

Copy

"The top navigation of my application uses hover menus. When a user puts his mouse on a menu item a sub-menu is opened; when the mouse moves out of the item the sub-menu disappears. If I place a tooltip on the menu item, as soon as the mouse is over the item, the tooltip covers the drop down and the user cannot see the sub-menu."

Notice how the tooltip hides the Media sub menu.

The best way to address this issue is using step conditions. Step conditions allow you to condition the display of any tooltip. In this example, we would like to tell Guided Learning to only show this tooltip if the sub-menu is not visible.

To add this condition, click the Add link under the tooltip's activation settings.

Once, clicked, add the following condition.

Notice how we are testing if the first item in the sub-menu (i.e. campaigns) is visible.

You can also amend the tip width or placement in the Display Settings. The tip width is measured in pixels or %. If just numbers are entered, it is pixels. For percentage, put a “%” at the end of the number.

Maybe this will help?

14

If the target element isn’t visible, how do we advance the guide automatically? One of my conditions is layered under a feature and won’t always be there for every award. I tried using the skip if element not found, but this didn’t do anything. The user guide mentions deselecting “Monitor Select” but when I do that, it skips the conditions for my tip and automatically advances to the next step.

15

Is there a way to move steps other than one by one? For example, step 19 needs to be moved to step 1. Can this be done faster than clicking into the step and selecting move up 18 times?

@Shruti Bhakta

No

I think the workaround is to clone the step and select “New Step” instead of using the “Add a Step” button at the top. This way, a new step is created right after the step you cloned.

The “Next” button is stated as “Done” in the screenshot and if you want to change it to “Next”, it does not allow you to do so, but will let you change it to a different word.  Can Done be changed to Next?

@Shruti Bhakta

If it is the last step, you cannot change it to “Next”.

If the next target is already visible, there is a glitch in clicking the target and moving forward in the guide.

Moving from one step to another, when there is data entry, how do you give it enough time to enter data before moving to the next step?

19

How can I have the step either 1) be hidden if the search field pop up is being used or 2) be visible behind the search field pop up?

Step 14 in OGL Create a Manual Journal Entry

@Shruti Bhakta

What you need to do is to add a step condition to this tooltip. The step condition should say "Show this tooltip when the page does not have a visible share popup".

20

Is there a way to preview a step (for example step 18) without having to do steps 1-17?

Everyone

Running guide in Dev4 is better than in preview.

Use Dev4 site https://ekgs-dev4.fa.us2.oraclecloud.com/fscmUI/faces/FuseWelcome and start the guide from the widget. After making changes, refresh the Dev 4 site and it will pick up from where you left off.

Oracle

22

What do all the target selector drop down options represent under Target Selector > Change Target Selector? Which one is location vs ID vs contains text? How does ‘Element Selector Settings’ play into this?

@Alexandra Mckeever

Normally ‘OFS’ is recommended for target.

In a situation where users might have different access and may see different options in different order, it is best to select target by Text/Title.

Go to setting at the bottom of the editor and check box for Title and Text.

After selecting target, change the address to ‘a:contains…’. The step will search the guide by text/title instead of location.

How do you get the screen to scroll the the right to display element in column that is to the right on the scroll bar?

@Alexandra Mckeever

24

How come I keep selecting ‘hide Next button’, then it reverts back to having Next button visible

On guide ‘Managing Subcontracts in Committed Costs and Manage Project Costs’, step ID 3

@Alexandra Mckeever

Oracle said you need to check ‘hide Next button’ everytime you edit.

25

If there are errors in saving (step 17), is there a way to have the guide have the user address those errors and repeat save step 17, before it moves to the next step?

OGL: Create a Manual Journal Entry

1/24/24

@Shruti Bhakta

Needs to correct the errors first and when the user start the guide from the page they left off, the guide will start from that page.

29

When should branching be used over skip element? Seeing examples of this (if time permits) may be helpful. I have scenarios where generally I do not want them to skip a step, but some instances it can be skipped. How is it configured for branch vs skip?

1/24/24

@Shruti Bhakta

Branching let you skip to the step you specify. Skipping let you skip to the next step.

In training or tips to share for guide usage, knowing that the refresh button can bring back a guide is a good tip to share.

I'm testing one of my guides and by the time I entered all of my chartstring data (using search and all), the guide disappeared. I hit refresh and it came back to where I left off and the data I entered in my screen was not lost.
