EAH Report Developer Training

Employee Activity Hub (EAH) training offerings include resources to learn about EAH data as well as Business Intelligence (BI) reporting and analytics tools (Cognos and Tableau) training.

You must have Employee Activity Hub Report Developer Access in order to participate in the Employee Analytics Community of Practice and to complete the EAH BI Tools Training.

The following training options are available for EAH users.

Learning EAH Data

Knowledge of the business, the data contained in the Employee Activity Hub and how to use that data are required to guide decision making. Members of the Employee Analytics Community of Practice provide business insight to EAH users through discussion EAH data.

Online BI Tools Training

Training for the Cognos and Tableau BI tools is available online. Follow at your own pace.

Online EAH BI Tools Training

Live training using EAH data was offered by Plante Moran in 2020. The customized training guides below were created from these sessions.

The train-the-trainer approach

We strongly suggest a train-the-trainer approach, where those who attended the live sessions in 2020 train others using the documentation created by the training vendor below. This method not only reinforces the trainer's knowledge but offers the benefit of their team-specific business knowledge.

Small Group EAH Tools and Data Training

IT Services Business Intelligence and Analytics provides focused BI tool training covering EAH data, BI tools or both. Class size is limited to groups of 6-15 UC San Diego developers.

Request this training by emailing a list of attendees and the content you would like covered to busintel@ucsd.edu. The BIA team will set up a training series to help you accomplish your goal.

What EAH Access Do I Have?

EAH Consumer Access

EAH Consumers can run reports that are available on bah.ucsd.edu or reports built by other report developers. They have requested access to the reports via the 'request access' link found in the upper right corner of bah.ucsd.edu and have been approved by their manager and the Employee data steward.

EAH Consumers can navigate the BI tools in order to reach the Views but are given an error message when they attempt to build a report.

EAH Report Developer Access

EAH Report Developers have requested access via the Employee Activity Hub Report Developer Access Request form and have been approved by their manager and the Employee data steward. Once approved, they will be invited to the Employee Analytics Community of Practice.

Approval to be an EAH Report Developer does grant access to run EAH reports built by other report developers.  EAH Report Developers must still request access to bah.ucsd.edu reports using the 'request access' link on bah.ucsd.edu.

Not sure if you are an EAH Report Developer?  You can use How to View Active Directory Group Membership to look up the Active Directory group EAH-Developers.  If your name is not on the list, you are not an EAH Report Developer.  The only way to join this AD group is via the Employee Activity Hub Report Developer Access Request form.
