Add Trend Lines to a Visualization

Tableau Issues from last week

Any questions? Everything is resolved now.

Tableau Upgrade

https://ucsdcollab.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/ACP/pages/2903212053

Q: How to force Tableau to show multiple measures in their own columns and with field names

Add any 2 measures to your display. Go to graph options in upper right and click on table (top left option).

That’s the quick way.

What is happening? Tableau wants you to use the Measure Names and Measure Values with all the measures you want in the Measure Values card. Once you have those items Tableau will show measures in their own columns and with field names.

Q: Where should images be saved?

Issue - Currently images go from desktop to workbook to Tableau server workbook. Sometimes the image disappears from Tableau server. Is there a better way to save / publish images so that the image doesn’t disappear? Is anyone else having this issue?

Sarah - No one else has reported this issue. Let us check to see if the best practice would be to save to a separate ‘images’ location on Tableau Server.

Tableau Desktop > Performance Recording

Anyone with Tableau Desktop can run a Performance Recording on any workbook on their desktop.

  1. Start the Recording:

    • Open your workbook in Tableau Desktop.

    • Go to Help Menu > Settings and Performance > Start Performance Recording.

    • You won't see a visual indicator that recording has started, but it's running in the background.

  2. 2. Interact with the Dashboard:

    • Perform the actions you want to analyze, such as applying filters, navigating sheets, or using parameters.

  3. 3. Stop the Recording:

    • Go back to Help > Settings and Performance > Stop Performance Recording.

  4. 4. Analyze the Results:

    • Tableau will generate a temporary workbook containing performance data.

    • This workbook has two main dashboards: Performance Summary and Detailed Views.

    • The Performance Summary provides an overview of the most time-consuming events.

    • The Detailed Views dashboard is for more in-depth analysis, especially useful for workbook developers.
