Kenneth & Dorothy Hill Fellowship

 About

The Kenneth & Dorothy Hill Fellowship provides support for doctoral graduate students whose work centrally entails research in the Special Collections at the UC San Diego Library. 

Fellowship recipients will receive a stipend of $12,000 to be paid over the 9-month academic year.

 Eligibility

Doctoral students whose work centrally entails research in the Special Collections of the UC San Diego Library, and who have used the Special Collections for their research within the 12 months preceding the fellowship's nomination deadline, are eligible for this award. Eligible students will be notified by GEPA of the opportunity to apply based on usage records from the Special Collections.

 Nominations

Application packets consist of:

  • Application form
  • CV (2 pages max.)
  • Research statement (3 pages max.) describing:
    • Brief overview of dissertation project (or proposed project);
    • Research performed thus far in the Special Collections and how it has informed your doctoral work;
    • Proposal/description of how applicant will continue to make use of Special Collections materials to support their doctoral research.
  • Two letters of support from UC San Diego faculty
