SAH Enhancement Process and Release Notes

Activity Hubs are always growing to meet the every changing needs of Activity Hub users.  To support ongoing customer needs BIA uses a monthly release cycle.


  1. Customer submits an enhancement request to busintel@ucsd.edu.
  2. BIA schedules which enhancements to include in the monthly release based on priority and level of effort, grouped by view.
  3. BIA adds new fields to /wiki/spaces/SAH/pages/18352668agenda for approval.
    1. SAH Data Definitions Committee reviews field name and source to ensure a clear, intuitive field name and an accurate data source.
    2. Existing fields do not need to be reviewed by the SAH Data Definitions Committee.
  4. BIA makes the enhancements to the SAH views, Tableau and Cognos.
  5. BIA releases the enhancements into UAT for 1 week of customer testing.
    1. Start UAT Release Notes are emailed to SAH Report Developers, Data Integration Developers and posted to Collab, below this page.
    2. SAH Report Developers test the enhancements in Tableau Prod > UAT folder or Cognos DEV > UAT folder.
    3. Enhancements that occur during UAT may break your report.
    4. Data in UAT should not be released to end customers as it may change.

  6. Finding no issues, BIA releases the enhancements to Production.
    1. View enhancements are moved to Hana Prod.
    2. Tableau enhancements published to Tableau Prod > ITS Governed Data Sources.
    3. Cognos enhancements migrated to Cognos QA and Cognos Prod.
    4. The data sources and packages in the UAT folders will be deleted (all -QA Tableau data sources).
    5. Release notes are emailed to SAH Report Developers, ITS-DataIntergrationServices@ucsd.edu and posted to Collab, below this page.
