2024-01 SAH Release Notes

Hello SAH Developers - The below enhancements are included in this month's SAH Release.

For access to the Student Activity Hub (SAH) you must be pre-approved by the registrar's office.  Please reach out to them directly.

 

Schedule

  • Friday, January 19, end of day: release enhancements to User Acceptance Testing

  • Wednesday, January 24, UAT feedback due

  • Thursday, January 25, end of day: release enhancement to Production

Mail List Change

This month BIA will start migrating our mail lists out of Emma and into Google Groups.  Our goal is to improve our communication efficiency and allow you all to benefit from announcements made by source systems when relevant.  This will require us to manually add everyone from the current list to the new Google Group.  You will all receive a notification that you have been added.  If you are member of multiple BIA mail lists then you will be notified as you are added to each new one.  We apologize for the extra email notifications.

Using Google Groups you will still be able to leave and join our mail lists.  We will be adding instructions to our collab site.

 

Renaming and Deprecating

As we've adapted the AH views to your needs, we have found changing field names is painful for both report developers and our team due to the name change breaking reports, data integrations and packages / data sources.  In an effort to avoid this pain, we are going to introduce a new name change strategy. 

  1. ITS-BIA will release new fields with the revised field name in the views that contain the field to be renamed, or where a view is to be renamed ITS-BIA will release as a new view the view with the revised name.

  2. ITS-BIA will allow a transition period for report developers to repoint their reports at the new fields / views.

  3. ITS-BIA will remove the data from the old fields / views and allow a second transition period.  This will not break the report but will highlight where the fields / views are still in use as they will become blank.

  4. ITS-BIA will deprecate the fields / views.  Any reports the have not transitioned by this point will break.

We'll be using this strategy on the following items that require name changes. 

In the January 2024 release we will set the following fields to null:

  • UG Cumulative Transfer Units First will be replaced by UG Cumulative Transfer Passed Units First and UG Capped Cumulative Transfer Passed Units First

  • UG Cumulative Transfer Units Current will be replaced by UG Cumulative Transfer Passed Units Current and UG Capped Cumulative Transfer Passed Units Current

  • UG Cumulative Transfer Units will be not be replaced.

This update is due to the identification that the UC Cumulative Transfer Units fields were not using an accurate title and were pointed at the UG CCC Self Reported Transfer Units in SIS, which one on is using in their reports.

UG Cumulative Transfer Passed Units is the sum of all reported Transfer Units.

UG Capped Cumulative Transfer Passed Units is capped at 105 Transfer Units for non-exam and non-UC credits. Students with a value of over 105 may have additional exam units, UC units or may have enrolled prior to the cap.

 

New View

SAH-TestScores-View

BIA and the SAH Data Definitions Committee are excited to release the SAH-TestScores-View for UAT.  This view contains all of the Test Scores saved to SIS from an application, for all students who have accepted their UCSD offer.  SAH-TestScores-View is pre-joined with SAH-Demographics and available as part of SAH Core views.  Per our standard release process this view will remain in UAT until our next standard release in January 2024.
