Hello FINAH Developers - We are excited to release new enhancements for you to test and we are seeking your assistance with our next set of data. 

Future fields and views related to PPM:

ITS-BIA has a spreadsheet with a list of data fields pertaining to each view and there are some fields where we are having a hard time locating the field source in Oracle.  For example, we can’t find the following fields for the project_person_role view:  Person Percent Effort - Academic Year,Person Percent Effort - Calendar Year,Person Percent Effort - Summer and Person Percent Effort - Total.  There are also fields that we are just starting to look for.  If you know where to find these fields in Oracle and can help expedite our development process, please enter the SOURCE_OBJECT and/or SOURCE_COLUMN in this document:  https://ucsdcloud-my.sharepoint.com/:x:/r/personal/jmwhite_ucsd_edu/_layouts/15/Doc.aspx?sourcedoc=%7B232EE710-3BEE-4AA5-8751-A0F4583FB5D7%7D&file=FinAH_Design%20-%20Source%20Field%20Location.xlsx&action=default&mobileredirect=true&cid=ab94545b-12c0-48d6-a5bd-5a686442acb9.  By looking at the different tabs you can see examples of what a SOURCE_OBJECT and/or SOURCE_COLUMN will look like in Oracle.

October releases for FINAH:

Due to the Cognos upgrade during October we'll only be releasing enhancements to UAT and not into production until the end of the month.  Hana QA does contain Oracle production data and is updated daily, therefore, if you have an urgent reporting need for the new views or enhancements you can run your report against Hana QA to get the same results as you would running against Hana Production. 

If you find an issue, please email busintel@ucsd.edu right away with the subject line “FINAH UAT due October 30” so we can address it prior to October 30.

How to test the new enhancements:

• Cognos: Use the packages in Cognos DEV > Financial Activity Hub > FINAH Data Sources – UAT to build your report and select Hana QA.  Do not select Hana Prod as the report will fail.  Using Hana QA will allow you to see the below enhancements with Oracle Production data. 
• Tableau: Sign into Tableau QA on your Tableau desktop tool and open your report.  Add a new data source with the same name and -QA at the end of the title.  Using this data source will allow you to see the below enhancements with Oracle Production data.
• Hana QA:  FINAH data in Hana QA is production Oracle data loaded daily, just like in Hana PROD.

If you find an issue, please include in your email to busintel@ucsd.edu the following:

• What browser are you using?
• What environment are you using?  Cognos DEV, QA or PROD?  Tableau QA or Prod?
• What data source / package are you using?
• What results were you expecting?  What departments were you approved for via the new FINAH row level security?

Remember, this is just the beginning of the PPM data, there is more to come.

Hi folks – We’ve received some great feedback on the new views that require some adjustments on our side so we are going to extend UAT for the new views of FINAH-Award-View and FINAH-ProjectPersonnelRole-View.  This will allow both us and you more time to refine these views to meet your business needs.

In prod today will be enhancements to views that are currently in use in production:  FINAH-UCSDGeneralLedger-View and FINAH-FinancialUnit-View.

Please continue your UAT of FINAH-Award-View and FINAH-ProjectPersonnelRole-View and email anything you find to busintel@ucsd.edu with “FINAH UAT due Sept 29”
