Overview

The EAH-GradTuitionEligibility-view summarizes the EAH-GradWorkPeriodDetail-View data into one row per Employee ID per Term. The data is combined with key demographic information from the Student Activity Hub.

This view looks at the Employee holistically for each Term, as opposed to the EAH-GradWorkPeriodDetail-View which provides a finer granularity that includes Employee Record.

This view includes NOT include row level security.

Critical Concepts

Underlying Logic

The data fields in this package are summarized to a per employee per term level from the EAH-GradWorkPeriodDetail-View. This package utilizes fields from EAH-GradWorkPeriodDetail-View to calculate tuition remission eligibility at the current benchmark of 25% for the duration of the quarter during the Academic Year. For example, see the calculation below that the Employee Work Percent Per Period Prorated in this view is a calculated field off of 2 fields from the EAH-GradWorkPeriodDetail-View

Employee Work Percent Per Period Prorated (EAH-GradTuitionEligibility-View) = Total of Employee Work Days Per Period Prorated (EAH-GradWorkPeriodDetail-View) / Work Days Per Period Prorated (EAH-GradWorkPeriodDetail-View)

If an employee is employed in more than one graduate academic title, the Employee Work Percent Per Period Prorated field is prorating the total employment for the term for that employee and comparing with the benchmark of 25% eligibility. Multiplying Employee Work Percent Per Period Prorated field by the 25% benchmark will result in the prorated FTE the employee worked across all eligible graduate academic employment for the term. In other words, the Employee Work Percent Per Period Prorated is a ratio of how much the employee worked towards the eligibility benchmark. In the example below, Employee A worked 2 times the 25% benchmark (or 50% across the quarter), whereas Employee B worked 0.8 of the 25% benchmark (or 20% across the quarter).

Concatenated Fields

In order to reach the detail level of one row per Employee ID per Term, the Employee Record and Job Code fields are concatenated to include a list of relevant data. The count of Employee Records is summarized in the Employee Active Appointments Count field. If you would like Employee Records to be broken out into multiple rows, utilize EAH-GradWorkPeriodDetail-View.

Eligibility Flags/Counts

Currently, there is 1 eligibility flag - Employee Tuition Eligible Flag. The flags in this package represent the status across the employee as a whole for the relevant Term. Although one of the employee’s appointments for the quarter may not be eligible, if the combination of appointments for the Term reaches eligibility, the flag will be “Y”.

Position Flags/Counts

See  EAH-GradWorkPeriodDetail-View QSG Position Flags/Counts for more information.

Granularity

Granularity is the scale or level of detail present in a set of data.  It identifies where levels of uniqueness exists in the data.  The data lives in the view at the lowest level, but each BI tool totals the levels differently.

Please note:  The Level of Detail (LOD) calculations listed here for Tableau developers are a baseline and do not necessary include all of the LOD equations needed for your report.
