Health Statuses

PM Framework.pptx

Standardize health ratings based on data? Not possible with current data set/calculations, but want to determine better definitions so these are applied more consistently

  • Schedule

    • Missed milestone but recovery path to go live on time = yellow

    • Missed milestone and at risk of missing go live = red

      • Re baseline schedule and get buy in from stakeholders -> back to green

      • Volatility? But if a new baseline, volatility will still remain high (separate measure than health)

      • Calculated end dates, target end dates for baselined schedule

        • Charter: indicate if there is a hard go live date or compliance date (or range)

  • Resourcing

    • Yellow = not fully staffed for assigned tasks or resources oversliced/over allocated

    • Red = severe shortage and blocking project (makes schedule red)

  • Budget

    • Grey status / no status – no budget

    • Yellow = approaching running out of budget but not out yet

    • Red = over budget already or definitely will be over budget, or we have an open budget request

  • Risk (Issues)

    • Judgement?

    • Open issue score of >6 or open risk score >9 = yellow

    • Open issue impact of >8 = red

When a project is undefined, but intentional/acceptable that undefined because still in initial planning: green (yellow is misleading)

What are you doing that's repeatable?

Think about this - great use case for Jira automation

  • repeatable OTLs for multiple plans (Lillian)

Repeatable tasks, for objects that weren’t in scope - prob ops/enhancements

Version updates, application version, upgrade
